Write-in declarations are filed with local election authorities
Illinois requires a notarized Declaration of Intent by September 3 for a general-election write-in vote to be counted. The official calendar says declarations are filed with the proper local election authority or authorities, not with the State Board of Elections. No statewide central list of named general-election write-ins was published with the state candidate list, so this guide does not invent or aggregate names from incomplete local lists.
